Historic
ARTURUS has an ongoing involvement with many historic buildings
and churches and have worked on many buildings managed by the National
Trust.
ARTURUS’s particular skills involve :
- Understanding construction and
materials used in historic structures.
- Undertaking assessments of an
individual structure and its condition and advising on the need
for more thorough investigations, possibly by a structural engineer.
- Preparing schedules of repairs.
- Advising upon repairs using
traditional building methods where appropriate.
- Advising upon alternative uses
and refurbishment and extension of historic buildings.
- Minimum intrusion of historic
fabric in planning any extension or alteration work, with sensitive
and sympathetic design consideration given to all projects.
- Liaison with Listed Building
Officers and negotiations with Local Authorities undertaken with
all necessary justification reports and planning submissions.
- Advising on alterations to improve
energy efficiency and economy.
