BELLEEK HOMES

The site is a former Police Station which was constructed during the Troubles. Our brief is for each house to make the most of the views towards the Lough.

The concept of the scheme is derived from the site location and topography. The houses are designed into the slope so that they appear 1 or 2 storeys to the roadside and 2 or 3 storeys to the riverside, affording views to the water and beyond. The style is contemporary with a mix of modern and traditional materials. The pitched roofs are dominant and reflect a rural barn form.

The internal layouts are designed with the most private spaces on the lower ground floor, with private outdoor space accessed through sliding or bi-fold doors opening out onto views of the river. The proposals include a small jetty into the river for small private moorings.
