Arturus Architects are architects for Bristol Rovers Football Club’s new 21,700 seat stadium at UWE and the works required by Gloucestershire County Cricket Club to ensure they can retain international cricket. Both projects are important for professional sport in Bristol.
Our experience of stadia and arenas has grown out of Robert Guy’s previous involvement with Bristol Rovers and their attempt to redevelop the Memorial Stadium with a mixed development including student accommodation, hotel, retail and offices providing funding. The combination of enabling development with a stadium is a specialist skill of the practice and is demonstrated in the design of the stadium at Rodney Parade Newport which includes residential towers, student accommodation, retail and offices. Robert has also designed arenas for both Brighton and Bristol which have yet to be realised and his knowledge has led to a checking and assessing role on major stadia and arenas in Iraq.
