BREAN COUNTRY CLUB

Arturus have designed a new building to replace an existing facility at Brean Golf and Country Club. The existing building was out of date and too small to accommodate the requirements of the expanding golf club membership. The site is on an unused part of land close to the 18th green and adjacent to a new holiday lodge development.

The two storey Proposal creates a new clubhouse with a large function room overlooking the 18th hole and a generous provision of changing rooms, club shop and cooking facilities, all of which are located on a ground floor podium level which has been raised 1.1m above external ground level to address flood risk issues.

The upper floor has members facilities including a club room surrounded on three sides by a roof terrace.

The scheme has future phases which include tennis courts and a bowling green which will be shared with the Lodge residents.

The large building footprint has been articulated with the use of a series of pitched roofs, which help to reduce its scale in order that the new club house sits comfortably within its sensitive setting. The design is a contemporary reinterpretation of agricultural buildings which are prevalent in the area and reflects the history of the site which was previously farmland.
